“Healthy Habits”

Maternal and Family Health Services (MFHS) is a private, not-for-profit community-based health and social services organization, enhancing the health and well-being of women and families in Pennsylvania. MFHS delivers SNAP-Ed to low-income women served through the Family Planning sites. SNAP-Ed is delivered in a one-on-one setting while being reinforced with innovative educational strategies via digital photo receiver and learn-while-you-wait activities. Additional resources such as newsletters and fact sheets are made available in the waiting area as well as on the MFHS website that enhance the education being delivered.

MFHS will be delivering nutrition education through Snap education to a number of pre-k preschools. A registered dietitian will be visiting each of the centers and providing nutrition education to the preschoolers with taste testing, games and activities. In addition, preschool teachers receive approved educational materials, lessons, games and activities to extend and enhance the program. Newsletters and bulletin boards will be coordinated with lessons to provide parents with information and ideas to reinforce the nutrition lesson.
